WORSHIP PROGRAM
Worship Program is the pinnacle and synthesis of the Work Camp experience. While Work Camp is a full-fledged service program, serving others is also valuable in refocusing students away from themselves and onto their relationship with God. When that happens, God has a prime opportunity to interrupt their normal cycles and thought processes to identify areas for growth, highlight core truths, reveal issues to be addressed and to intensify their faith.
Just like with any other camp, Work Camp’s Worship Program team plans and runs the events at Home Base at the beginning and end of each day. Students enjoy crazy games, hilarious videos, intense dance parties and other campy fun before rich times of worship and teaching. Speakers focus on the annual theme for Work Camp and deliver powerful messages to connect with students.
At the end of the week there is a Senior Commissioning ceremony and students are given ample time to share testimonies from their week as they process and learn from the experience they just completed.
Morning Worship & Devotion – Each morning after breakfast the day starts with morning worship and a devotion to ready students for their day of service. This is a great transition and preparation for putting the needs of others above ourselves.
Worksite Send-Off – As is tradition, students not serving on Worksite send the Worksite Teams off with flourish and fanfare. And once the Worksite Teams are off, the other teams prepare for their later starts (and usually have a pretty sweet dance party).
Noon Devotions – Student Shepherds will lead their teams through a devotion during their lunch break. This is a prepared devotion that complements the theme of Work Camp and usually builds on the topic that the speaker covered the night before.
Evening Worship – This is the main event, complete with games, worship, teaching that goes along with the yearly theme of Work Camp, and more worship. We can say it is awesome, but just wait – you’ll see for yourself that it is the best!
Evening Message – Each evening a message is delivered by a selected speaker focused on the annual theme of Work Camp. Sometimes a pair of speakers share the responsibility. Speakers are usually youth pastors themselves or have a special ability to communicate with a youth audience. These messages are age-appropriate, compelling, usually incorporate some humor and connect well with the students.
Talent Show – Thursday evening during Free Time, students are encouraged to participate in our annual talent show. Musical gifts, magic tricks, stand-up comedy and much more are all fair game for this event. Make sure you get your act ready!
Senior Commissioning – We have instituted a special commissioning ceremony for the graduating seniors. Many of these students serve at FCWC for six consecutive years, and saying goodbye well is something that is important to us. We want them to understand that their practice of service can continue on past their Work Camp experience and adopt service as a consistent part of their relationship with God.
Testimonial – The conclusion of Work Camp each year is the Friday morning testimonials. Students who want to share a story, revelation, God sighting, lesson learned or highlight can come to the front to share from their heart. This is a truly impactful and touching part of the Work Camp experience.
